A Japanese news channel provided update on the visitor trend at Okunoshima. According to recent figures, the annual total number of visitors to Rabbit Island fell sharply to less than 200,000 during each of the years 2020 and 2021 of the COVID pandemic. This is less than half of the number for 2016 and 2017 when each year saw about 400,000 annual visitors arrving at the island paradise. Could less visitors feeding the rabbits indirectly cause a temporary decline in the animal population then?
